Baruch College to Offer MS Degree in Real Estate
New York, NY--August 9, 2007--Baruch College will offer a 30-credit Master of Science in Real Estate, it was announced today by Kathleen Waldron, president of Baruch College. Aimed at real estate professionals, those planning to work in the industry, and individuals with substantial real estate portfolios, the MS program will provide an intensive look at real estate both as an industry and as an important economic sector. "The new MS degree program consolidates Baruch's preeminent position in real estate education in the New York metropolitan area," Waldron noted.

Mitsui Lunch-Time Forum: Blood Diamonds and Price Transparency

Ten Baruch Faculty Members Awarded Lang Fellowships for 2007-2008
Ten Baruch College faculty members received Lang Fellowships through the Eugene M. Lang Junior Faculty Research Program. The winners of the 2007-2008 awards reflect the strong research potential among the College's junior faculty members. Winners may receive support of up to $7,500 for an academic year to fund their research projects, enhancing the probability that the project will result in publication of the research in a refereed journal.

Zicklin, FEI Q4 CFO Survey: Recession Bigger Concern Than Inflation in 2007
According to the 2006 fourth quarter "CFO Outlook Survey," conducted by Financial Executives International (FEI) and Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business, 30% of the participating CFOs indicated they were quite to very concerned about recession, compared to 16% who are quite to very concerned about inflation. Including those CFOs who indicated "moderate" concern, 59% worry about recession compared to 53% who worry about inflation.

Baruch Students Get Businesses Up and Running
The following article appeard in The Village Voice 11/14/06.Education Supplement Winter 2006. Most people working in the business world know what to expect when they have to attend company-sponsored leadership training. They'll file into a large conference room or lecture hall to listen to a seminar on management skills and then be required to participate in some kind of role-play where volunteers act out how best to deal with delicate work situations based on what they were supposed to have learned in the preceding lecture.

Baruch Business Report: Life After the Big Board Goes Electronic
The Baruch Business Report offers a conversation between John Elliott, the Dean of Baruch's Zicklin School of Business, and Robert A. Schwartz, the Marvin M. Speiser Professor of Finance in Baruch's Zicklin School of Business. They discuss the impact of the New York Stock Exchange's introduction in Spring 2006 of a "Hybrid Market," a carefully designed, complex system that combines traditional floor-based trading with a fast, electronic platform. European markets as well as some markets in the U.S., including NASDAQ, have introduced this ahead of the NYSE. Learn about the effects on trading and market efficiency there and what that might mean for the NYSE. Professor Schwartz' "Life After the Big Board Goes Electronic" was published in the Financial Analysts Journal, September/October 2006 issue. His co-authors are Paul L. Davis and Michael S. Pagano.

Morgan Stanley Alumni Re-Connect to Baruch College
Morgan Stanley employs 250 Baruch alumni, and all 250 were invited to meet and mingle with one another and to hear President Kathleen Waldron discuss current events at Baruch at the first-ever Baruch Alumni reception hosted by Morgan Stanley. The reception at Morgan Stanley followed the pattern of similar events that have been held at Bear Stearns, PricewaterhouseCoopers, CIT, Goldman Sachs, and TIAA-CREF, among others companies that employ significant numbers of Baruch alumni. An alumni reception at Deloitte & Touche is scheduled for November 28.

Weissman Center Distinguished Lecture Series: Globalization: A Force for Good?
On October 12, 2006 Frederic S. Mishkin, in his first speech since being sworn in as Federal Reserve Board Governor addressed Baruch students and faculty on the state of globalization today and its' impact on the world economy.
