Honors and Recognition Ceremony – Beta Gamma Sigma and Sigma Iota Epsilon
This year, our 75th anniversary, the induction ceremony and breakfast will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 in NVC 14-220 of the Newman Vertical Campus. College administrators and invited dignitaries will join the officers and faculty members of Beta Gamma Sigma in honoring the students inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma and Sigma Iota Epsilon.
The Zicklin School of Business will honor a group of outstanding academic achievers who represent this year’s inductees to Beta Gamma Sigma during a special congratulatory breakfast scheduled for Friday, April 16, 2010. These worthy students have demonstrated perseverance, dedication and commitment to a demanding course of study in graduate and undergraduate business programs that deserve recognition. Also, they have fulfilled additional eligibility requirements that include integrity, honor and character, which are
essential attributes needed for personal and professional development.
Beta Gamma Sigma is a prestigious international honor society reserved for an elite group of highly accomplished business students from accredited AACSB International colleges and universities. Students are eligible for membership if they rank in the top 10 percent of the baccalaureate and top 20 percent of graduate programs. Zicklin inductees will join a network of more than 625,000 outstanding business professionals from around the world who have earned distinction through lifetime membership.
This year celebrates Baruch’s 75th anniversary and the Newman Vertical Campus is the location for our special induction ceremony and breakfast. College administrators and invited dignitaries will join the officers and faculty members of Beta Gamma Sigma in honoring the new inductees.
The program will begin with John Elliott, Vice President and Dean, Zicklin School of Business, giving the welcome address followed by Stan Altman, President of Baruch, who will extend greetings to the assembled group.
Richard Kopelman, (Professor and Chair, Department of Management) is Presiding Officer for Sigma Iota Epsilon and Elliot Axelrod, (Professor, Department of Law) is President, Beta Gamma Sigma Epsilon Chapter, and each will preside over their respective student induction ceremonies. Associate Deans Phyllis Zada and Myung-Soo Lee will present the coveted Beta Gamma Sigma Alumni Medallions to Levi Reich (BBA) and Nikolas De Sena (MBA) in recognition of extraordinary academic excellence and leadership.
Awards for teacher excellence in selected disciplines will be presented to the following
faculty members from the Zicklin School of Business—Raquel Benbunan-Fich (Department of Statistics and Computer Information Systems), Mike Chen-Ho Chao (Department of Marketing and International Business), Gayle Delong (Bert W. Wasserman Department of Economics and Finance), Andra Ghent (Department of Real Estate), Donna Gitter (Department of Law), Thomas Lyons (Department of Management), Igor Vaysman (Stan Ross Department of Accountancy).
Also, Zicklin School of Business will bestow a special faculty honor in memory of Jerry Bornstein, Deputy Chief Librarian (Posthumous).

Aaronson, CEO & President, AVRS, Inc., (Management Company) Class of 1948; Albert Croker, Professor and Chair, Department of Statistics and Computer Information Systems; Elsie Gottlieb, Professor, Department of Statistics and Computer Information Systems; Helaine Korn, Professor, Department of Management; and Terrence Martell, Professor of Finance and Director, Weissman Center for International Business.
The Keynote Address will be delivered by Ms. Jennifer Suarez, Senior Vice President, Workforce Development for CBS Corporation. She is an accomplished executive who oversees executive level search, development and succession planning across CBS divisions. Ms. Suarez has oversight of all recruiting, performance management and learning and development functions for all divisions. Also, she is responsible for the implementation and execution of diversity initiatives companywide. Her stellar career in business is impressive and reflects a breadth of experience in the media and entertainment field. She graduated from the Michael E. Moritz College of Law at the Ohio State University with a Juris Doctorate, Order of the Coif, and a B.A. in Business Administration with Honors from Judson College in Elgin, Illinois. Zicklin is pleased and honored to have Ms. Suarez as our keynote speaker.
