The Zicklin School of Business would like to extend our congratulations to the newest members of Beta Gamma Sigma and Sigma Iota Epsilon that were inducted during our special breakfast ceremony held on April 16, 2010. Everyone who attended this event found it to be an inspiring and memorable experience that seemed to touch students, faculty and invited guests on many different levels.

This celebration of excellence was an acknowledgement of the hard work, dedication and professionalism of 125 Zicklin PhD, graduate and undergraduate business students who earned their place in these elite honor societies. There were two additional students who had scheduling conflicts and attended induction ceremonies offsite at Fordham University and Montclair State University. We hope their experience was equally rewarding and special even though they could not be participants in the Zicklin festivities.

This was a fitting occasion to give special recognition (Posthumous) to Mr. Jerry Bornstein, Deputy Chief Librarian, the designated faculty honoree, in memory of his commitment and contributions to life at Baruch since 1994. As we viewed video clips of him that morning, it reminded us that Mr. Bornstein was dedicated to teaching students how to use information effectively. We have all benefited from his invaluable direction and support. He will be sorely missed by both faculty and students.

beta-gamma-2010-4The keynote speaker Ms Jennifer Suarez, Senior VP, Workforce Development for CBS Corporation; held everyone captivated as she shared her journey that led to a successful career at one of the largest media organizations in America. The telling of her story was injected with passion, sensitivity and principles to live by; which all attendees found extremely moving and will be long remembered. Her presentation was one of the highlights of the breakfast and contributed to making this day all the more special.

This was an outstanding event that Zicklin can take pride in. Judy Tse, Director of Undergraduate Services, Office of the Dean was responsible for planning and oversight of the Honors Ceremony and she wants to extend appreciation to everyone who contributed their time and effort. In particular, she wanted to acknowledge Joellen McDonnell, Brenda Maller, and Andrew Cox for their efforts in compiling student profile data which was a critical part in the preliminary execution of this event. Also, special thanks to Douglas Kandora, our student volunteer, whose service that morning made the start of our day even more pleasant.
