Another Business is Launched

The second place team members in the 2002-2003 Baruch College Entrepreneurship Competion changed their business name from Yummy Pockets to Rico M. Panada and launched their business. Operations began in September, 2004 and their products are now carried in more than two dozen restaurants and food outlets.

Located in the Bronx, New York, Rico M. Panada is a food-processing establishment specializing in the production of high quality empanadas: five-inch long, half-moon-shaped, hand-held, baked pocket pies. Only high quality ingredients are used: organic whole wheat pockets filled with a variety of meats, cheeses, grains, and vegetables, alone and in combinations. There are no trans-fatty acids, preservatives, or chemical flavorings.

The company's USDA approved plant operates under an established HACCP plan. Rico M. Panada, LLC sells its empanadas to cafes, restaurants, bars, caterers, and supermarkets. Near Baruch, their frozen empanadas can be found at Natural Green Market (Third Ave & 16th St) and their hot empanadas at Hidden City Cafe (24th St between Lexington & Park).
