Sonia Jarvis
Sonia Jarvis is appointed to the Ackerman Chair as a visiting associate professor. A graduate of Yale University with a degree in law, she is an accomplished scholar whose research and teaching focus on race, politics, and the media. She has written several book chapters and papers, and is currently completing a book entitled Through a Prism, Darkly: The Media’s Impact on Race and Politics in America Since the Civil Rights Act of 1964. She is an active member of several professional associations and academic organizations and has served in a number of administrative positions, including executive director of the National Coalition on Black Voter Participation, Inc.
