Fred Burke comes to the Zicklin School of Business with over 15 years of experience in higher-education career services. For the last six years, he was the Executive Director of the Career Center at Hofstra University. Prior to his role at Hofstra, Fred was the Associate Director of Career Development at Vassar College for almost seven years. Before his time at Vassar, Fred worked in human resources, where he managed the college recruitment efforts for Westfield Companies outside of Cleveland, Ohio. In his role, he traveled to 25 schools in 15 states to recruit talent for entry-level positions
Fred began his career in the Career Planning and Placement Office at Miami University in Oxford Ohio, where he worked as an assistant director and career counselor. He finds great joy in helping students discover their career plans and implementing those plans into actual internships and jobs. Fred continues to stay current with cutting-edge technology and its role in career services. He truly enjoys working with employers and alumni who wish to hire students for either internships or full-time jobs.
Fred holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Communications from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY and a Master of Professional Studies in Humanistic Education from the State University of New York at New Paltz. He is actively involved in several professional associations, and is Co-Chair of the National Association of College and Employers (NACE) Conference taking place in June 2014.

Manager, Graduate Career Programs
Lindsey Plewa-Schottland joined the GCMC in the Summer of 2012 as Manager of Graduate Career Programs. Previously, she was a Career Coach and Program Manager for part-time MBAs and alumni of the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University. Prior to joining NYU Stern in the Fall of 2008, Lindsey served as an Education Advisor at NYU’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies where she advised students pursuing professional certificates in Career Planning, Communication Skills and Arts Administration. Lindsey holds a BA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and holds a MA and two professional certificates, one in Adult Career Planning and one in Leadership Skills, from NYU.
Manager, Working Professional Career Programs
Jack Pullara joined the GCMC in Spring 2012 after 15 years in the professional services firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP (PwC). While at PwC, Jack was a Principal in the New York office where he provided audit and audit-related services to clients in the capital markets, banking, and insurance industry sectors. In addition to serving clients, one of Jack's other passions has been coaching and mentoring staff. While Jack is new to the GCMC, he is not new to Baruch. Jack was the partner responsible for on-campus recruiting at Baruch for the Risk Assurance practice in the New York Office. He continues to be actively involved in Baruch’s Executive Student Partnership (ESP) mentoring program both as a mentor to students and a member of Baruch’s Executives on Campus (EOC) Advisory Committee. The ESP program provides undergraduate and graduate students with networking, interviewing and other essential “soft skills” vital to compete in the job market. Jack graduated from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY with a degree in Accountancy and earned his MBA from Columbia University. Jack lives in Hoboken with his fiancée Sandra and enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and real-estate investing.
Nancy is a business communication coach and author of Self-Promotion for Introverts®. She helps clients connect to and communicate their gifts to bring them fully and authentically into the world. She assists them with vital career building and leadership skills: preparing for presentations, job interviews, and other business meetings. Nancy’s background includes 12 years on Wall Street, including service as a vice president at JP Morgan Chase & Co., where she was recognized for running successful marketing programs for a multibillion-dollar business.
Annie Himmelsbach joined the GCMC in the Fall of 2012 as a Career Advisor. Because she herself has had a diverse career history, including positions as a human capital consultant, event manager, and professional dancer, she empathizes with students as they experience the excitement and occasional frustrations that accompany the search for a best fit career. Annie has provided career counseling to undergraduate business majors at the University of San Francisco and community college students at the College of San Mateo in addition to teaching career exploration and job search technique courses. Annie holds a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia and an MS in Counseling with emphases in Career and College counseling from San Francisco State University.
Tanuja is a Certified Professional Coach (CPC), who holds an MBA from The Zicklin School of Business and spent the greater part of a decade in the corporate world in Training & Development, Organizational Change Management, and IT Management. She has served as the lead in global initiatives and has conducted trainings in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Jennifer Seidman has been a Career Consultant with us since 2003. Jennifer has worked in both the academic and corporate arenas. Previously, she held the role of Assistant Director of Graduate Career Services at Pace University before joining Merrill Lynch as a Corporate Recruiter and HR Generalist. Additionally, Jennifer currently works as a Contract Recruiter. She has a BS in Business from the University of Delaware as well as an MA in Organizational Psychology and an Ed.M. in Counseling Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. When Jennifer is not advising our students or managing her recruiting business you can find her chasing her two beautiful children.
Prior to working at Baruch, Robin was a Human Resources executive in the financial services sector. Her primary focus has been on building next generation leaders and ensuring strong pipelines of talent to meet business needs. She has hands-on experience helping people to define their career objectives and build solid development plans to get there, which will help students prepare to present their best selves in recruiting situations.

Associate Director of Employer Relations
Ellen King is the Associate Director of our Employer Relations Team. She came to the GCMC from JPMorgan Chase, where she spent many years as a Vice President for Human Resources. She works closely with current and potential employers seeking to fill internship and full time opportunities for Zicklin graduate students. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Bridgeport, CT, and a master’s degree in management from NYU.
Employer Relations Specialist
Justyn Makarewycz has been with the GCMC since 2012, with experience in marketing and creative communications at various companies, including Gay.com, FleishmanHillard and AXA. Justyn also led the New York metro-area office of a boutique recruiting firm, delivering staffing solutions to small and large companies across various industries - from financial services to consumer packaged goods. Justyn works directly with employers seeking to engage Baruch's MBA and MS students through networking opportunities, as well as for internships and full-time roles at their companies. Justyn completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Davis.
Deborah Butler has a BS in sociology from Queens College and is currently pursuing her MSEd in Higher Education Administration. She worked part-time in the Career Service Office at Baruch’s School of Public Affairs, and has a background in event planning. Deb brings a passion for helping others, and enjoys meeting all who come through the GCMC’s door. As a grad student with recent work experience in Higher Education, along with being a mother of four college-aged children, Deb has the insight and perspective of Higher Education from several different lenses. Deb enjoys cooking, the outdoors and her greatest passion is her family.
