GCMC Workshop Information
The Graduate Career Management Center offers a number of workshops that are designed to assist you in mastering the core competencies required for success in the career management process. Workshops cover topics including planning an effective job search, writing customized resumes
and cover letters, interviewing successfully, and negotiating
offers and compensation.
Students are encouraged to meet regularly with their Career Advisor for assistance in defining and executing on their goals. In order to receive maximum benefit from individual appointments, students are expected to be prepared by utilizing the strategies, tools, and exercises provided during the GCMC workshops/webinars.
Advanced registration is required through Zicklin CareerLink, under “Calendar” as space is limited.
- In some cases there will be pre-assignments for the workshops, be sure to read the workshop descriptions carefully when you register.
- Workshops with low registration are subject to cancellation.
- Interviewing Strategies and Recruiting @ Zicklin Workshops are required for On Campus Recruiting (OCR)*

Recruiting @ Zicklin will position you for using the recruiting resources and services in the Graduate Career Management Center and prepare you for what recruiting means at Zicklin both on and off campus.
Building Your Personal Brand
This webinar covers the basics of self and market assessment; learn how to define your personal brand and how to figure out what the marketplace is expecting from prospective candidates.
Resumes, Cover Letters, and Thank You Letters
Techniques for writing effective, results-oriented resumes, cover letters, and thank you letters are reviewed. Exercises are incorporated to stimulate thinking about personal and professional accomplishments. Emphasis is placed on improving resumes and cover letters to better reflect one’s achievements as they relate to one’s career goals. Participants must bring your resume, a cover letter draft and the corresponding job description if attending live workshop.
Various strategies to be used when searching for both internships and full-time positions are discussed, with emphasis placed on networking. Tips and guidelines for comfortable, appropriate, and successful networking approaches are reviewed. An interactive exercise helps put these techniques into action.
Interviewing Strategies*Improve your chances of landing a
job by learning valuable tips and strategies for successful
interviewing. This session reviews behavioral interviewing the most
common form of interviewing used in business today and provides an
opportunity to practice behavioral interviewing skills. Guidelines for
interview preparation are reviewed, including commonly asked questions
and mistakes to avoid.
Evaluating and negotiating job offers can be the most confusing and
stressful--but exciting--part of the job search process. This workshop
will help demystify the process, let you know what to expect, and allow
you to best position yourself to optimize your compensation. A must for
all graduate business students regardless if you are currently
interviewing or not!
This session will provide a proactive and sustainable approach to developing and enhancing your leadership capabilities through the use of specific tips and techniques. This interactive session will define leadership from a career perspective and give you the tools to use as you engage in your job search and beyond. A Leadership Toolkit will be provided to everyone in attendance.

and advanced tips for utilizing this professional networking site with
over 80 million users. Gain tips and ideas on how to manage your
personal brand, expand your job/ internship search, and enhance your
professional relationships.
