His presentation and his new book, Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do?, will challenge us to think through the hard moral challenges we confront as citizens. Sandel shows how the most hotly contested issues can be illuminated by reasoned moral argument. The presentation will be followed by a book signing. Why discuss this topic in the first place? Why discuss it now when companies struggle to survive the severe economic downturn? What about water, power, and the very buildings companies occupy? The answers to these
questions are the subject of the next chapter in sustainable business. Planning must begin now if cities of 25, 50, or even 100 million can provide a hospitable environment -- water, power, information infrastructure, buildings -- for business. Partnerships and collaboration among business, government,
communities, and technology experts hold the key to these challenges. Experts from these fields come together on November 6 at Baruch College to discuss how they are meeting the challenge by envisioning the future.</description> <dc:publisher>No publisher</dc:publisher> <dc:creator>MLePere</dc:creator> <dc:rights></dc:rights> <dc:subject>Center for Corporate Integrity</dc:subject> <dc:date>2009-10-29T18:34:12Z</dc:date> <dc:type>Event</dc:type> </item>

Edward Zinbarg ('54), an author, religion scholar, and former Executive Vice-President of Prudential Insurance Company, will begin by illustrating the vision of an ethical marketplace as seen by the world’s great religions. Sharing from personal experience, Arthur Zeikel ('54), former Chairman, President, and Chief Investment Officer of Merrill Lynch Asset Management, will then discuss how one can attempt to install an ethical culture within an organization. Larry Zicklin ('57), former Managing Partner and later Chairman of the Board of Neuberger Berman, will follow by detailing how we all got what we deserved by not ensuring our financial institutions were instilled with the proper ethos. The panel will be open to questions from the audience.
