Director, Corporate Partnerships
Michael Lissauer is currently director of corporate
partnerships at the Baruch College MarkLab, an adjunct professor in
the Zicklin School of Business and supervisor of Park Bench Marketing Group (in-house student
operated marketing consortium).
From 1990 through the end of 2007, he was executive vice president of marketing and business strategy for Business Wire and as a member of the company's Board of Directors played a decisive role in the company's acquisition by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway in March, 2006.
He is a dynamic, confident and innovative problem solver, decision maker, strategic thinker, communicator and motivator with 35 years of diversified global experience in strategic planning, global branding, marketing, advertising, public relations and product development plus substantial leadership and communications skills.
While at Business Wire Lissauer built the company's marketing department to be integrated and multidisciplinary dramatically improving market share and amplifying worldwide branding. He also created the first-ever website for Business Wire in May 1995 revolutionizing corporate news delivery and enabling Business Wire to focus on integrated communications, direct-to-consumer marketing and social networking. Industry-leading trade publication, PRWeek reported "during the 1990s Business Wire leveraged the internet to lead the PR industry into another paradigm – perhaps the most important of our generation."
He also initiated myriad strategic alliances and joint ventures throughout his tenure at Business Wire, devised strategic global solutions to meet clients' communications needs, orchestrated and conducted 18 Business Wire international sales meetings and managed the company's marketing, new media, product development and strategy departments.
From 1976 through 1990 Lissauer was executive vice president of marketing at The Collier Organization and president of Saga Communications, the company's in-house marketing division. At Collier, a mini-conglomerate with interests in marketing communications, graphic arts, entertainment, substance abuse and restaurants, he was responsible for all marketing functions, including advertising, public relations, branding and corporate publications.
At the start of his business career Lissauer held a variety of public relations positions for R.C. Auletta & Company (Vice President), Peugeot Motors of America/Liaison Agency (Public Relations Officer), Harshe Rotman & Druck (Account Executive) and The Brookdale Hospital Medical Center (Assistant Director of Public Relations).
Lissauer is currently a member of the Baruch College Executives on Campus Steering Committee, Chair of its Marketing Committee and a member of the Nassau Region Advisory Board of the American Cancer Society.
In 1971 he graduated from Pace University's Lubin School of Business with a MBA in Communications and in 1968, from the University of Bridgeport with a BA in Political Science.
