Business Workshops
The Field Center offers free workshops geared to start-up and established businesses. These non credit-bearing workshops are taught by the Field Mentors who are faculty from the Zicklin School of Business. Workshops such as business plan development and starting new ventures are designed to provide a foundation for the entrepreneur. Other courses such as e-commerce and management workshops are designed to improve a business owner’s knowledge and skills in specific areas. Workshops are also offered on such topics as franchising, home-based businesses, financing, sales techniques, record keeping, and low-cost advertising. Basic techniques and a quick look at QuickBooks will be discussed.
Basic Principles of Marketing

Participants may take-away simple to implement tools which help identify specific problem areas across the many facets of their businesses.
Starting and Running Your LLC: Legal & Tax Considerations

THE ART OF INNOVATION: DEVELOPING IDEAS AND BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
March 27, 2012 - 06:00PMThis seminar focuses on developing ideas that can be converted into opportunities. We demonstrate how a simple “point of pain” can be the start of something big. Also, we discuss how the internet is providing new opportunities for entrepreneurs as well as different customer expectations. There is a discussion of other “macro” changes in the business environment intended to broaden the view of participants. Innovation types are covered: we show that incremental innovation can be a powerful way to grow a business – disruptive innovation is not always required! We then provide a number of frameworks for innovation.
