The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs-Summer Enrichment Program

The Weissman Center invites Baruch College students to apply for the Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program hosted at Howard University in Washington DC. The Programs offers a six week summer program designed to provide undergraduate students with an insight into career opportunities in international affairs and the knowledge and skills to pursue such careers. Students take 3 academic courses: History of U.S. Foreign Relations, Political Economy and Writing and participate in enrichment activities and professional development workshops.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Student must be a U.S. citizen
  • Full-time undergraduate student
  • Have a least a cumulative GPA of 3.2 on 4.0 scale

DEADLINE IS FEBRUARY 10, 2012

 

Applications must include the following:

  • Completed Summer Enrichment Program application form
  • An interest statement (in 500 words or less) that explains the applicant’s interest in international affairs and how this program will assist him/her in pursuing this interest
  • Application to Howard University (see instructions in the online application process)
  • Official transcript from any college or university that the applicant has attended.
  • Resume
  • Three letters of recommendation

o Two from faculty members

o One from a community leader familiar with the applicant’s accomplishments

  • Proof of U.S. citizenship with a notarized copy* of: (choose one)

o Birth certificate

o Certificate of U.S. citizenship

o U.S. passport
*Bring a copy and the original of your passport or birth certificate to a Notary Public. They will examine the documents to determine that they are official, stamp and sign the copy and give it back to you. www.123notary.com

BENEFITS

The program covers tuition, travel, room and board, and provides a stipend.
