Ensuring Integrity: 3rd Annual Auditing Conference

The conference will provide a forum for interaction between business, public accounting, academics, and policy setters from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Public Companies Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). It will also examine the current best practices of ethics and independence within the auditing profession.

The U.S. Treasury Department established the Advisory Committee on the Auditing Profession to examine the profession’s ability to cultivate, attract, and retain human capital; audit market competition and concentration and the impact of the independence and other professional standards on this market and
investor confidence; and the organizational structure, financial resources, and communication of the auditing profession. ACAP Co-Chair Nicolaisen will review the findings of the Committee.

Panel 2: Auditing Fair Value and New Accounting Standards - 3:00 to 4:15 PM

The focus of this panel will be on the auditing challenges related to fair value measurements. The panelists will explore some of the specific challenges related to the FASB 157 as well as the implementation of FASB 141R. The panelists will also discuss the impact of IFRS and the broader use of fair value measurements within its standards.
