Spring 2014 Home

Muyng_Soo_PortraitDear Zicklin Community,

When I think about the Zicklin School of Business, I often think of the legacies created and the legacies that are sure to live on with bright future.

This semester, we continue our year-long celebration of the 15th anniversary of the naming of the Zicklin School of Business in honor of the Zicklin family, by sharing a heartfelt video of students and alumni whose lives have been transformed by their individual experiences at the school.

Professor of Management Donald Vredenburgh sat down with Professor Narendra Paul Loomba to speak more about his generous gift of $3 million last year to rename Zicklin's Department of Management as the Narendra Paul Loomba Department of Management, which begins a new legacy for the school’s future.

We are also proud to share other stories of continuing legacies at Zicklin. This includes the 12-year-old CUNY Institute for Virtual Enterprise and its SmartPitch Challenge, faculty research work by Lippert Professor of Marketing Lauren Block, and a recent article by student Tiina O’Connell (BBA Economics) which appeared in Baruch's almost 80 year-old Ticker.

In the coming months, I will step down as Interim Dean of our school. Dr. H. Fenwick Huss will be the next Willem Kooyker Dean of the Zicklin School of Business starting in July. Dr. Huss has served as Dean of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University since 2004, and we are eager to welcome him to the Zicklin community. It has been an honor for me to be able to take an active role in our school’s legacy and direction these past two years, and in this issue of the eZine I am happy to share my thoughts with Elaine Bernstein, Zicklin’s Director of MS Programs and Academic Services.

I look forward to the many legacies that will continue to grow, nurture and cultivate the excellence that is the Zicklin School of Business.

Thank you and best regards,

Myung-Soo Lee
Interim Dean, Zicklin School of Business
