Mentoring
"I don’t know where I would have been if I had not met [my mentor.] Being alone in this country in a whole new environment, I was getting a little lost and concerned about my future, taking into consideration the risks I took to come to the USA and Baruch College. I desperately needed guidance. I needed to know that somebody cares. [My mentor] offered his time and wisdom unconditionally.”

The Zicklin Mentoring Program links first-year MBA Honors students with experienced and successful business school alumni to foster the students’ career growth and development. The program was developed by Professors Allen Kraut and Michael Stauffer (right). Mentors and mentees are expected to meet for an hour or two about once a month to talk about issues such as:
- The student’s career field and future opportunities.
- What it takes to be successful and how to develop the needed skills.
- How current and future courses can be applied in their field of interest.
Based on many studies and reports, both the mentors and mentees benefit greatly from such programs. Participation is voluntary for our students and, of course, for the mentors.

Volunteer or Nominate Someone as a Mentor
“I found [my mentee] to be extremely bright and ambitious. He is uniquely qualified to participate in the East-meets-West phenomenon that is taking place in the world today.
We worked on his career goals together, his resume/cover letter/interviewing strategies and discussed the overall landscape of the investment world.
My impressions of the BCMP were nothing but favorable. The structure and enthusiasm behind the program all but assured the program was a successful one. However, the only opinion that matters is that of the student.”
