Course 1 – Fall Session
COACHING THEORY AND PRACTICE is a six-session course that combines lectures and case assignments. The goal of the course is to provide an in-depth orientation to the work done by professional coaches. It is directed at human resource managers, consultants, and others who want to understand the design and delivery of this service.
The knowledge gained in this course:
- Provides a solid background in the emerging field of professional coaching
- Helps HR managers select and supervise the professional coaches who work with an organization’s employees
- Provides HR professionals with the knowledge to manage and evaluate a professional coaching service
- Enables consultants to identify professional coaching opportunities
- Gives counselors and therapists the opportunity to learn how professional coaching differs from their services and to determine if it should be a part of their service mix
Classes meet on six Friday afternoons from 1 pm to 5 pm in the Executive Education Facility of the Zicklin School of Business. Light lunch and coffee breaks are provided.
Coaching Theory and Practice satisfies the skill requirements to advance to the Professional Coaching Program (spring program), which leads to completion of the Professional Coaching Certificate.
