Jonathan Rose is a green planner and designer as well as real estate developer. About 20 years ago, Rose set out to create a company to plan and develop environmentally conscious projects. The developer and his firm have won praise for consistently developing projects that benefit America’s communities. Numerous nonprofits, cities, and towns have appointed him to work on everything from artist enclaves, to libraries, to housing for seniors and first-time homebuyers.
Jonathan Rose Cos., LLC is, in the words of its president, “a leading green urban solutions provider. We understand buildings, neighborhoods, cities, regions, and the nation as complex, adaptive and interdependent systems. Our goal is to help metropolitan regions become more resilient, competitive and equitable.”
Rose is a strong advocate of smart growth and sustainable building techniques, and can often be found on the lecture circuit. He is a strong believer in the idea that creating diverse places where people live, work, and play is essential to “repairing the fabric of communities.”
He has developed urban live/work artist and incubator communities in New Mexico. In New Haven, Connecticut, he was chosen to develop 30 energy-efficient homes in a mixed-income HOPE IV development called Eaton Row and planned the redevelopment of its Westrock Public Housing Project.
The president of Jonathan Rose Cos., LLC, is a classic Renaissance man with a degree in philosophy and psychology; deep spirituality and a love of nature work as his guides. Rose claims that his belief in interdependence influences how he models innovative solutions to development, environment, and community problems.
