Newman Institute Award for Visionary Leadership in Real Estate
The First Newman Institute Award for Visionary Leadership in Real Estate was presented to Charles J. Urstadt on October 27, 2005 at the University Club in Manhattan in recognition of the contribution made by the Battery Park City Authority to New York City life over the last 40 years. Sponsored by William Newman and the Advisory Board of the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute, the award recognizes the public/private partnership that turned 100 acres in the Hudson River into six million square feet of commercial, residential, hotel and recreational uses, including the World Financial Center, as well as a landscaped waterfront esplanade that ends in a public park at the tip of the city.
