Commercial Buildings and Business Districts
In cooperation with the Institute for Urban Design, the CUNY Urban Consortium addressed the 21st century initiatives that have been affecting the way that offices are conceived, designed, and used (or should be) and the ways in which urban interventions are being used to affect business districts. Dan Gundrum, a director of the international practice DEGW and Colin Cathcart, a partner in Kiss+Cathcart discussed 21st-century technology for high-rise buildings. And Daniel Biederman, co-founder of Grand Central Partnership discussed the application of private management and private funding to public spaces - for example, NYC’s Bryant Park.
