Courses
The Institute, under the auspices of the Baruch College Division of Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS), offers a wide range of courses in real estate. Our course offerings include: required New York State Licensing Courses, New York State-approved Continuing Education Courses, Certificate Programs, and Individual Courses in Real Estate. All of the courses listed below can be taken individually to satisfy continuing education credits or New York State Licensing requirements.
The Certificate in Real Estate
The Certificate in Real Estate requires successful completion of nine required courses and seven elective courses for a total special package cost of $5,150 plus an application fee of $50. Through electives, students can concentrate in finance and investment, management and leasing, appraisal or real estate development as well as complete educational requirements for the New York State salesperson's or broker's license.
All the required courses listed below are offered every semester; Fall Semester (September-December) Winter/Spring Semester (January-May) and Summer Semester (June-August). The Associate Director of the Certificate Programs schedules a varied selection of elective courses throughout the academic year.
The Certificate in Sustainability Program (NCSP course codes), Certificate in Construction Management Program (NCCP course codes), and Certificate in Facilities Management Program (NCFP course codes) and their shared courses (NCGP course codes) require completion of coursework drawn from courses taught in the Certificate in Real Estate Program (NCP course codes; NCPEL course codes; and NCCP 1000, 2000, and 5000 course codes). Credit will be given toward a Certificate in Sustainability, Construction Management, or Facilities Management for applicable Certificate in Real Estate Program coursework.

Certificate: Certificate in Sustainability
Certification in Sustainability requires successful completion of five required courses and three elective courses for a total special package cost of $2296.00 plus an application fee of $50. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the sustainability and green/energy conservation field to prepare them for both the LEED exam and the marketplace. Certificate: Certificate in Construction Management
Certification in Construction Management requires successful completion of six required courses and three elective courses for a total special package cost of $3244 plus an application fee of $50. Students will gain both onsite and in classroom instruction on managing a construction project from inception to completion. Certificate: Certificate in Facilities Management
Certification in Facilities Management requires successful completion of seven required courses and two elective courses for a total special package cost of $3088 plus an application fee of $50. Students will gain a broad knowledge of the key principles and practical aspects of operating, maintaining, and managing residential and commercial facilities. Legal and financial matters as well as sustainable and experiential based learning will be covered in this program.

Course Cancellation Policy
The Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute and Baruch College Division of Continuing and Professional Studies maintains the right to cancel courses, adjust curricula and class hours, close facilities, substitute instructors, change class locations or limit enrollment. In the event that a course must be cancelled, each student may transfer to another course or section with tuition adjustment, receive a credit or a full refund.
