CUNY Building Performance Laboratory
The City University of New York Building Performance Laboratory is an initiative aimed at leveraging CUNY expertise in buildings and property management to improve energy efficiency and other aspects of building sustainability throughout the region. With initial funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, the lab will conduct research, practice-based education and provide leadership in sustainability. The BPL team is led by distinguished professor Robert Paaswell PE, director of the CUNY Center Institute for Urban Systems, and includes the School of Architecture, Urban Public Health program, NYC College of Technology, the Center for Sustainable Energy and CUNY's own Design, Construction and Management department. The Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute of Baruch College will be providing outreach to the real estate community as well as sustainability, education within its certificate program. In order to facilitate liaison with the real estate community, the Building Performance Laboratory will have an office in the Steven L. Newman Hall.
