Baruch College Partners with FEI to Launch CFO Survey:
While top financial decision makers in the U.S. remain moderately optimistic toward their outlook for the global economy, they are collectively less optimistic about opportunities for their businesses and the U.S. economy, according to the most recent survey of Chief Financial Officers conducted by Financial Executives International (FEI) and Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business. This quarter, CFOs globally continue to be faced with a myriad of concerns, including headcount reduction and the stability of the Eurozone. U.S. CFOs also share the added concerns surrounding the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and a resolution to the debt ceiling.

The Master’s of Financial Engineering Program at Baruch College was ranked #4 in the 2013 QuantNet Ranking of Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance M.S. Programs released on September 24. With an overall score of 98 (out of 100), the Baruch College was among six institutions who scored between 97 and 100 at the top of the ranking: Carnegie Mellon University, Columbia University, New York University, Princeton University, and University of California, Berkeley.

Baruch College Ranked Among Top 25 for Entrepreneurship by Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine
Baruch College has been placed at #25 on the “Top 25 Undergraduate Programs for Entrepreneurship” list released today by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine. For the sixth year in a row, the College was chosen for this annual list from more than 2,000 schools surveyed by The Princeton Review for Entrepreneur magazine. Evaluations were based on key criteria such as teaching entrepreneurship business fundamentals in the classroom; staffing departments with successful entrepreneurs; excellence in mentorship; and providing experiential or entrepreneurial opportunities outside of the classroom.

According to PayScale’s annual “College Education ROI Rankings” report, Baruch College ranks in the top 10%-at No. 108-of the 1,060 public and private U.S. colleges and universities evaluated in the report. On PayScale’s list of “Annual ROI,” Baruch College delivers the highest annual ROI for in-state students (10.6%) and out-of-state students (9.8%) of all public colleges and universities.

In addition, Baruch is ranked in the top five, for the third year in a row, on the magazine’s list of “Top Public Schools/Regional Universities (North),” ranking at #4. The undergraduate business program at the Zicklin School of Business is ranked among the top 100 in the nation, at #58 (up from last year’s #72).

Baruch College Welcomes 59 New Faculty for the 2013-2014 School Yea
Baruch College is pleased to welcome 59 new faculty who will begin teaching during the 2013-2014 school year. From international affairs to music theory, from business ethics to world literature, the new tenured/tenured track faculty bring a broad range of expertise and represent more than 10% of the total full-time faculty at Baruch College. In some cases, the new faculty replace faculty who have chosen to depart or retire, but the number also includes new faculty lines that were created to enhance the learning experience for Baruch students.

Baruch College ranked No. 3 among the list of 349 U.S. colleges in Washington Monthly's (WM) "Best Bang for the Buck." Washington Monthly launched the new ranking this year based on the economic value students receive per dollar. The list features the colleges in America that "do the best job of helping non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices." WM looked at 1,572 colleges and universities, but only 349 made the list as "best-bang-for-the-buck" schools because they met four criteria:

Chief Financial Officers remain in a holding pattern in the first few months of 2013, according to findings from the most recent survey of CFOs conducted by Financial Executives International (FEI) and Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business. CFOs in Europe and the United States have lowered their projections for hiring and have increasing concerns about the fate of the Eurozone.
