The Government Accountability Project’s annual American Whistleblower Tour will make a stop at Baruch College on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Jon Oberg is a former Department of Education researcher, who uncovered and raised awareness on the improper payment of “hundreds of millions in federal subsidies” to student lending companies, according to The New York Times. Baruch College is ranked #33 among the “Top Schools for Older Students” by BestColleges.com. Baruch was listed with a 26% application rate of Undergraduate Students Ages 25 and Older; a 25% admission rate and a 63% graduation rate. Baruch College was also recognized for its School of Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS), which attracts many nontraditional students.

Kofi A. Annan was the 7th Secretary-General of the United Nations and is the founder and chair of the Kofi Annan Foundation. In 2001, he and the United Nations were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace. Kofi Annan was praised for being "pre-eminent in bringing new life to the organization." Nobel Prize winning economist Kenneth Arrow visits Baruch
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, Baruch College welcomed Dr. Kenneth J. Arrow to express his views of business ethics and the role they play in the economic system. Arrow is currently a professor at Stanford University and is best known for his extensive research in various theories of economics. His educational career consists of an undergraduate degree from City College, and both a master’s degree and doctorate from Columbia University. He won the Nobel Prize in 1972 for his economic models of economic equilibrium. Before his economic success, however, Arrow was a meteorologist in the U.S. Air Corps. The Nobel Prize-winning economist began the event by conducting a typical lecture followed by a question and answer session, in which the audience had the opportunity to expand on specific points they wanted further addressed. The event concluded with light refreshments, giving attendees the opportunity to discuss the subject further with Arrow.
