Financial Support
All incoming students will receive an eight month stipend of $18,000. Additional summer funding is available depending upon the qualifications. This stipend will continue for four years. However, students must make satisfactory progress toward the degree in order to qualify for the stipends. During these four years students may be acting as a Research Assistant or Teacher Assistant.
On top of the stipend, student will receive in-state tuition for four years as long as students continue to make satisfactory progress; however, students must pay the fee portion of their bills.
In general, a doctoral student is deemed not to be making satisfactory progress if he or she has a grade point average below 3.00, has accumulated more than two open grades ("INC," "INP," "NGR," "ABS," and "ABP"), has completed more than 45 credits without having passed the First Examination, has completed 10 semesters without having passed the Second Examination, has received two "NRP" grades in succession, or has exceeded the time limit for the degree.
