Doctoral Student Research Grant Program 2012-2013

Doctoral students, in good standing and in their 2nd to 7th year at The Graduate Center are eligible to apply. Students who received grants in Competition #6 (February 1, 2011 to January 31, 2012) are NOT eligible to apply for Competition #7. Download Application Here

Procedure:

Each EO and Program will develop a means to review the proposals and decide on how to disburse the allocated research funds.

Students must submit an original plus 2 copies of their complete grant application packages to their EO by the recommended date of Monday, October 31, 2010. However, EOs may set different deadline dates to suit their needs. EOs should submit the original proposal plus 1 copy of all the application packages recommended for funding to Linda Merman in Room 8310 no later than 4PM, Tuesday, November 29, 2011. The attached Awardee List indicating the awardees should be submitted to Linda’s office together with the application packages recommended for funding. Note that the form should indicate the number, though not the names, of applicants who were denied funding.

In mid-December, we will send individual student award letters to the EOs for distribution to their students who they have selected to receive grants. At the same time, EOs should prepare denial letters, including a reason for denial, to be given to their students who have not been selected to receive a grant.

Kindly review the attached Program Announcement and the application Cover Sheets regarding eligibility of applicants, deadlines, description of proposals, criteria for review of proposals, eligible and ineligible expenses, and the responsibilities of awardees. Please distribute the Announcement and Cover Sheet to all your graduate students in hard copy and/or electronically. These materials also will be available in my office (Rm. 8309), in the Doctoral Student Council Organization office (Rm. 5485) and on the website for the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (see: http://web.gc.cuny.edu/orup/funding.html#For_Students ).

Your careful review and signature on Page 3 of the Application form will certify that the student is eligible for the program and that the budget meets the program guidelines.
