Frequently asked questions about the Executive MBA program

FAQ overview

Who is a typical student?

A typical Zicklin Executive Program student is a highly motivated, mature individual who has assessed his or her potential and set goals of leadership within an existing work environment or in another field. To some degree, executive students are "workaholics" because they have already reached mid-management levels of responsibility yet seek out the challenge of intense study as a stepping-stone to ultimate success.

Is a GMAT required?

Yes and no. Beginning in Fall 2004, GMAT results will no longer be considered an essential part of the application process. However, students might consider submitting a GMAT score if they feel that their transcripts do not reflect their current status and potential or if the resume indicates lack of expertise in pivotal areas of management. A solid GMAT score is a plus for gaining entry into executive programs.

Is there a deadline for submitting applications?

Yes and no. Applications are accepted and processed on a "rolling admissions" basis. Depending on space availability, July 15 is the deadline. Applications received after that date will be considered if space remains. It is not unusual for a few seats to be available at the last minute.

Do I have to be financially sponsored by my company?

No. In fact, today fewer companies, whether large or small, offer tuition sponsorship because of uncertain business conditions. If your company or agency offers any support, please discuss it with the Executive Programs Administrative Office. We can assist you with negotiating successfully even in the most daunting circumstances.

How is tuition paid?

Tuition is paid in seven installments. A deposit of $4,000 is due upon acceptance of our offer of admission. The remaining six payments are due prior to the start of each trimester.

What financial aid is available?

There are several sources of financial aid (loans) that candidates may consider whether U.S. citizens, residents, or international applicants. Once you have been accepted into the program, the Financial Aid Office can guide you through the process. No grants or scholarships are offered by Executive Programs. A variety of loans are available.

Can international students apply?

Yes. Students in Executive Programs are classified as full-time students and are eligible for student visas. While the cost of the program is identical for a U.S. citizen, you will probably need a student visa. Once accepted into the program, you are required to complete a statement of financial support for one full year. When the statement is received, the college forwards necessary documentation to you for submission to the nearest United States Consulate in your home country and thus starts applying for your student visa. These proceedings can be lengthy, so apply early in the year if you wish to begin an Executive Program. Admission into the college is not a guarantee that you will be given a student visa.

Does Zicklin Executive Programs accept transfer credits?

No, the lockstep nature of the program does not lend itself to accepting transfer credits.
