» BBA in Accounting
Overview
The accounting major in the BBA program prepares students for financial and accounting positions in private industry, nonprofit organizations, and city, state, and federal governments. The program provides
- a general liberal arts and sciences background,
- a foundation in general business practice,
- an understanding of accounting concepts and theory.

Additional Information For:
LAW 3102, Law of Business Organizations. This course plus LAW 1101, Fundamentals of Business Law (part of the BBA "Business Base,") combine to meet the NY State business law CPA requirement. Students seeking to meet the CPA requirements by pursuing the MS in accounting component of Baruch's 5 Yr Bachelor's/Master's CPA programs will be able to waive the business law course in the MS program if they obtain a "B" or better in both LAW 1101 & LAW 3102.
CIS 4350, Computer Control and Audit. This course is highly recommended for accounting majors seeking a career in Internal Auditing. These students should also take as their Advanced Accounting Electives ACC 4360, Internal Audit: Enterprise Risk Management and ACC 4361, Internal Audit: Application and Practice.
OPR 3300, Quantitative Methods for Accounting. The material covered in this course applies directly to the managerial accounting and cost accounting functions within an organization. Click on more about OPR 3300 for additional information.
One advanced statistics course. Students seeking to meet the CPA requirements by pursuing the MS in accounting component of Baruch's 5 Yr Bachelor's/Master's CPA programs will be able to waive STA 9708 in the MS program if they obtain a "B" or better in both STA 2000 and one additional statistics course such as STA 3154, STA 3155 or ECO 4000.
FIN 3610, Corporate Finance. This course complements students' studies in cost accounting and provides additional insights into capital budgeting from the prospective of the financial analyst.
Transfer students please note:
- A minimum of 8 credits of 3000 level accounting courses must be taken at Baruch College,
- Only courses completed at Baruch College count toward the determination of the GPA,
- Transfer credit is not available for 4000 and 5000 level accounting courses.
