Eligibility

Beginning with the freshman class of Fall 2001, students are admitted to Baruch College and need to complete certain pre-business requirements before they can declare a business major, or be eligible to take upper division business courses. These rules go into effect for all students, including transfers, re-entering, and continuing students, in Fall 2003.

If you are currently a Baruch College student, and entered in the freshman class of 2001 or after, you need to have satisfied all of the criteria in the pre-business curriculum with a minimum GPA of 2.25. They are:

  • Completion of Accountancy 2101, CIS 2200, Economics 1001, Economics 1002, English 2100, Law 1101, Mathematics 2201/2206/2207/2610 or their equivalents, and Statistics 2000 with a minimum GPA* of 2.25 in these courses.
  • Completion of a minimum of 45 credits with an overall GPA* of 2.25 or higher.
  • Completion of either Communication Studies 1010 or English 2150.

If you are ready to apply, please complete the Eligibility Form. If you are not a student at Baruch College and wish to apply for admission, please visit the Baruch College Office of Admissions for more information.

*AP credits will not be used in calculating the GPA needed for entrance to the Zicklin School of Business.
**For transfer students, grades in equivalent courses that receive Baruch College transfer credits will be used in the calculation of the GPA for entrance to the Zicklin School.
