- Personal Branding & Target Market Research
The career management process as it applies to MBA/MS students is defined and discussed. The process starts with self-assessment by investigating one's interests, skills, values, and personality characteristics as they relate to both career choice and the job search process. Resources and methods for researching industries, professions and companies are reviewed, including informational interviews.
- Resumes, Cover Letters, and Thank You Letters
Techniques for writing effective, results-oriented resumes, cover letters, and thank you letters are reviewed. Exercises are incorporated to stimulate thinking about personal and professional accomplishments. Emphasis is placed on improving resumes and cover letters to better reflect ones achievements as they relate to ones career goals. Sample resumes and letters are provided.
- Relationship Building & Job Search Strategies
Various strategies to be used when searching for both internships and full-time positions are discussed, with emphasis placed on networking. Tips and guidelines for comfortable, appropriate, and successful networking approaches are reviewed. An interactive exercise helps put these techniques into action.
