1. What are the office hours?
- The
Center is open: Monday & Tuesday, 9:00 am - 7:00 pm; Wednesday
& Thursday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm; and Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. The
Center is closed Fridays, July 1 - August 12, with the exception of
July 8.
- Walk-in Advisement Sessions: Monday - Thursday: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
- Mock Interviews: Mondays & Thursdays (bring a VHS tape to record your interview)
2. Do I need an appointment to meet with a career advisor?
YES. Unless you stop by during walk-in hours, you will need to call (646) 312-1330 to schedule an appointment with an advisor. At certain times of the year, advisors' schedules become booked up for weeks in advance. Please be sure to schedule your appointment early. Note: Prior to meeting with a career advisor, you must complete the Center's Career Management Curriculum.
3. When am I eligible for on-campus recruiting (OCR)?
- JUNE graduates: The fall and spring semesters prior to graduation (e.g., June 2005 graduates are eligible fall of 2004 and spring of 2005)
- JANUARY graduates: The fall semester prior to graduation and the spring semester after graduation (e.g., January 2005 graduates are eligible fall of 2004 and spring of 2005)
- Please note that students are required to attend the OCR Workshop in order to participate in OCR activities. Students may attend the OCR Workshop up to 18 months prior to their date of graduation.
4. What is the average starting salary for internships and/or full-time employment for my concentration?

5. When I apply to a job, do I need to send a cover letter along with my resume?
YES.
You should ALWAYS send a cover letter whenever you submit your resume,
unless otherwise stated. Please adhere to the GCMC's Cover Letter
Policy and guidelines when submitting applications through eRecruiting.
6. If I go on an interview and meet with more than one person, can I send a thank you letter to just one person and ask him to thank the rest for me?
It is always best to send an individual thank you letter to each person with whom you interview. Remember to request a business card from each person with whom you meet. This will make your follow-up easier.
7. Will the Center send student resumes directly to employers?
The Graduate Career Management Center will only submit student resumes to an employer that requests we do so. Typically, all employer contact information is provided with a job description and students are expected to submit their cover letter and resume directly to those organizations that interest them.

10. Can international students work off-campus for pay?
YES. If international students are registered for one of the graduate internship courses, then they can work off-campus for pay and credit. Please click here for internship information.
11. What is the difference between BUS 9800/01/02/03 and ACC 9850/51/52/53?
BUS 9800/ACC 9850 is a 3-credit internship course that allows students to intern for a semester and obtain 3 credits and a grade at the end of the semester. BUS 9801/ACC 9851, BUS 9802/ACC 9852, and BUS 9803/ACC 9853 allow the student to intern up to three (3) semesters. Each individual course in the series is worth just one credit. The 3-course series allows international students the opportunity to intern for a longer period of time in a paid off-campus internship.
