TEMPLATE INSTRUCTIONS

The resume you upload to the Class of 2009 Employer Resume Book must be formatted using the template provided here <link to template>. Resumes which are not formatted using this template will not be included in the Resume Book.

Note: This template can be used on PCs, only.

Step 1: Adjust your Microsoft Word settings

Open Word and select Tools/Macro/Security from the menu bar. Your security level must be set to medium.

Step 2: Download the template

Save the resume template <link to template> to your computer, and launch the template by double clicking on it. Open the template and click "enable macros" when prompted.

Step 3: Enter data into the template

Enter your contact information, education, experience, additional, and other information into the template. To edit your resume in the future: re-launch the template, input your initials, and then make the appropriate changes.

Step 4: Save your resume

The data you enter into the template is stored in a "scrap" or working file. When you select the “Generate” option within the template, your information is taken from the scrap file and used to produce a standard Word document. Your scrap file will have the following naming convention: _scr_<your initials>.dat. Please do not delete this file or you will lose all the data you have entered. Additionally, don’t move this file, or the template program will be unable to find it when you attempt to edit or regenerate your resume.

Step 5: Generate your resume

Click “Generate.” This will produce a fully formatted Word version of your resume. The generated resume will have the following naming convention, and will be saved to your default directory: <last name> <first name>.doc. If you accidentally delete this file, just generate a new one from the template program by inputting your initials. There is no need to re-enter data if the Word version of your resume is deleted.

Step 6: Run Spell Check and check for length

In Word, run spell check and verify that your resume does not exceed one page. If it does, re-launch the template and edit accordingly.

Step 7: Create an online profile and save the Word version of your resume to the Candidate Registration system by Friday, November 9, 2007.
