Applicants educated outside the United States may need to take an English Proficiency Exam.
You are exempt from the English Proficiency Exam if you:
- Completed a post-secondary degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctorate) in the United States
- Completed a post-secondary degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctorate) from one of the English speaking countries listed below.
- Documented proof of attendance in a U.S. school from 1st-12th grade (Elementary, Middle School, and High School are all required)
If you don’t meet any of the above conditions, then you will need to submit scores from one of the following English Proficiency Exams:

International education systems vary around the world and therefore our admissions committee needs to understand the comparability of international qualifications with U.S. degrees. We prepare international credential evaluations for the countries listed below.

For all other countries, you are required to obtain an international credential evaluation from one of the following pre-approvedorganizations. Be sure you request that they send the completed evaluation along with transcripts evaluated to Baruch College, Zicklin School of Business.

*Applicants to programs that lead to New York CPA licensure: We strongly recommend that you obtain a NASBA (National Associate of State Boards of Accountancy) Advisory Evaluation instead of a NACES evaluation. The NASBA evaluation report is designed to identify any CPA required academic deficiencies in your education, and our academic counselors use this report to best advise you on your course selections leading up to the CPA exam.
Once You’ve Been Admitted
International applicants seeking a student visa to study in the U.S. will need to complete the Request for Certificate of Eligibility and the Declaration and Certification of Finances. You can view a copy of the I-20 application and get a list of all the documents needed on the Baruch’s I-20 Process website.
To obtain a student visa for full-time study, you must demonstrate the ability to pay for your entire first year of study in the U.S. You also will be required to indicate the source(s) of funding for your second year. Even if you cannot fully support your first year, please indicate your sources of partial funding. For visa purposes, you should not include potential merit scholarships or loans as sources of funding. However, international students are considered for merit scholarships.

Preparing for Enrollment
All students need to submit proof of MMR immunization and proof or waiver for Meningitis immunization before registering for classes. Review and submit your immunization requirements. If necessary, the Student Health Center offers immunization inoculations at no charge and performs a blood test for a fee if you require.
