Students who are business majors at the Zicklin School of Business are required to minor in a Liberal Arts field. Zicklin business majors may also choose a second, optional minor in business. All students are limited to two minors. The only exception is for International Business majors who are required to have a liberal arts minor and functional minor. IB students may have an optional 3rd minor.
The liberal arts minor consists of three courses of study (9–12 credits) outside of students’ majors. Of the three courses, two must be taken at the 3000-level or higher. The third course in is to be the 4000, 5000, or 6000-level capstone course created or designated by each department in the concentration. Capstone courses are research oriented and communication intensive. The capstone course can be taken only after students have completed two courses in their disciplinary concentration at the 3000- level or higher, and it must be taken at Baruch College. In order to graduate, a student must have a grade point average of at least 2.0 in the three courses that make up their liberal arts minor.
In addition to the liberal arts minor, Zicklin business majors may choose to pursue a second minor in business at Zicklin. These minors are available only to Zicklin majors. Courses that apply to the minor may not be used for any other requirement. These minors do not replace the liberal arts minor.
Students officially admitted to the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences or in the School of Public Affairs who wish to take business courses may do so by declaring a business minor. Before declaring the minor, students must complete either Bus 1001 (1 credit) or Bus 1011 (previously BUS 1000) (3 credits). To be awarded the minor, students must have a GPA of 2.0 or more in the courses included in the minor. Eligibility to declare such a minor is restricted to students who have an overall GPA of 2.0 or more at the time they declare the minor. Courses that apply to the minor may not be used for any other requirement. A business minor does not fulfill the Pathways College Options liberal arts minor requirement.
