First-Term Course Selection Guidance (Pre-Evaluation)
Welcome to the program! While you’re waiting for your official course evaluation to be completed, you may register for courses to begin in your first term.
➤ How Many Courses Should I Take?
Consider your familiarity with academic expectations, especially for writing-intensive or technical courses—as well as your personal and professional commitments when determining an appropriate course load.
For Students Working Full-Time (35+ hours/week):
- We recommend taking 1 to 2 courses in your first term.
- This allows you to balance academic success with work and personal commitments.
For Students Working Part-Time (less than 35 hours/week):
- We recommend taking 2 to 3 courses per term.
➤ Important Notes for F-1 Visa Students
If you are an F-1 visa holder, you must meet full-time enrollment requirements, which are registering for at least 9 credits (typically 3 courses) per semester during the fall and spring terms.
- Only one online course per term may count toward your full-time requirement.
- If you are unsure which courses meet F-1 compliance, please consult with the International Student Services Center (ISSC) or your academic advisor before registering.
➤ Recommended First-Term Courses
Students can adjust their course schedules through the first week of classes at the beginning of every term.
