Course Planning Information
- The required information system core courses (CIS 9000 Information Technology Strategy, CIS 9340 Principles of Database Management Systems, CIS 9490 Systems Analysis and Design and CIS 9590 Information Systems Development Project) are the same for all information systems concentrations and are generally offered every Fall/Spring semester.
- Important Course Sequencing Information:
- CIS 9490 Systems Analysis and Design has a prerequisite of CIS 9340.
- Students planning to graduate in three semesters should complete this course in their second semester so that they are ready to enroll in the capstone course CIS 9590 in their third semester.
- CIS 9590 Information Systems Development Project is the required capstone course and is completed later in the program.
- The pre-requisites are CIS 9490 and CIS 9340.
- Note: CIS 9490 and 9590 are a two-course sequence. They cannot be taken simultaneously. Please plan your schedule accordingly.
- Plan your registration for CIS 9590 based on your expected date of graduation.
- Students can begin taking concentration and/or elective courses as long as the prerequisite(s) are met.
- As part of their electives, students can take up to 6 credits of 9000-level courses from the graduate offerings of the Zicklin School of Business.
- Students may take up to 3 credits of internship (BUS 9801-9803 or BUS 9811-9813) toward their business electives.

- Students will need to email ZicklinMSAdvising@baruch.cuny.edu if they need course permission to enroll in a next-level course using an undergraduate course as a prerequisite.
- Students will need to email ZicklinMSAdvising@baruch.cuny.edu after completing the course and the final grade is posted, so the course substitution can be entered on the DegreeWorks degree audit.

Baruch Undergraduates in Accountancy
Students who earned their undergraduate BBA in Accountancy from Baruch and wish to fulfill New York State CPA Licensure requirements can take an ACC elective towards the MS IS.
