First Semester Course Selection
Course Planning Information:
- Students admitted in the Fall semester should complete TAX 9863 in the first semester as it is a pre and/or co-requisite for many of the Taxation courses.
- Students admitted in the Spring semester will complete TAX 9861 as a substitute for TAX 9863 in the first semester.
- Students will not receive credit for both TAX 9863 and TAX 9861.
- All MS Taxation students should expect to take at least one summer course.
- Students should aim to complete BUS 9551: Business Communication I in their first two semesters.
- BUS 9551 is offered every fall, spring, and summer.
- Students who are required to complete ACC 9110 should note it is offered in both fall and spring semesters.
- Students should note that TAX 9878 is not a course option for the MS in Taxation.
- Students will not receive credit toward their degree requirements for this course.
Preliminary Course & Waiver Criteria (3 credits)
MS students will receive an email from the advising team with more specific information related to your program requirements. New students should note that evaluations will be sent to the same email address that you used to apply to your degree program.

Preliminary Course Waiver Criteria:
ACC 9110: Financial Reporting is required for all MS TAX students. While not a prerequisite for any TAX courses, it does provide knowledge that is needed for the profession.
- ACC 9110 can be waived if a Financial Accounting course was completed in a prior degree program with a grade of B- or better.
- ACC 9110 is offered in both the fall and spring semester.
