Join the Robert Zicklin Center for Corporate Integrity as we welcome Sara Levinson for the Fall 2016 HSBC Student Series on Ethics and Accountability. Ms. Levinson’s talk is entitled A Fish Out of Water Learned to Swim with the Sharks. She will draw upon her career as a leader in several uniquely American corporations including MTV Networks, NFL Properties at the National Football League, Harley Davidson and Macy’s.  She will share personal experiences and observations as an executive and board member in dealing with ethical issues in the entertainment and retail industries.

About the Speaker
Sara Levinson has forged a distinguished career working with several of the world’s leading brands, companies that enjoy recognizable and powerful consumer loyalties. She is a currently a member of the Board of Directors for two highly respected Fortune 500 companies:  Harley Davidson, Inc. and Macy’s, Inc. She recently co-founded a technology startup, Katapult Studios, and serves on the company’s  Board of Directors. Katapult, based at Betaworks, builds technology for the creative generation. She also serves on the board of internet company CafeMedia,  where she previously served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.

Sara was the President of the Women’s Publishing Group, Rodale Inc, overseeing some of the largest publishing brands in the health and wellness category.
She was President of NFL Properties Inc, the marketing, licensing and sponsorship division of the NFL, representing the NFL and all 32 teams.  She was named the first “Woman of the Year” by Women in Sports and Entertainment.  While at the NFL, Sara introduced fan development programs to expand the NFL’s fan base, creating local flag football leagues to involve young fans in the sport, marketing to women and casual fans nationally, for the first time in the League’s history.  Under her leadership, Advertising Age named the NFL as the Promotional Marketer of the year, recognizing the NFL’s innovative promotional efforts with women and kids.

Sara has also served as the President of MTV, Music Television, and held various roles at MTV Networks. During her tenure at MTV, she directed the network’s global expansion with the launches of MTV Brazil, MTV Asia (introducing MTV into over 2 dozen countries in Asia), MTV Japan and MTV Latino. She also served on the board of MTV Europe and Comedy Central’s predecessor, The Comedy Channel.

She was an account executive at Doyle Dane Bernbach advertising agency. And she began her marketing career in media at Showtime Entertainment in the late 70’s. She graduated from Cornell University with a BS degree and from Columbia University with MBA in marketing and finance.

The HSBC Student Series on Ethics and Accountability is a four-part discussion focused on a broad range of current ethical issues in business, finance, government, law, and society.
