Over the past few years, the question about who is eligible t
o compete on women’s sports teams has gained attention as Lia Thomas, a transgender woman, joined and competed on the University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team and Becky Pepper-Jackson, an 11-year old trans girl from West Virginia, filed a lawsuit seeking the right to try out for her school’s girls’ track and cross-country teams. While much of the discussion of the ‘trans’ question has been political, this panel attempts to discuss holistically the various considerations that underlie trans inclusion in traditional, sex-segregated sports.
