From Unstructured to Structured Data: The Underlying Process

October 27, 2021 at 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm EDT

Join Dr. Mahima Hada, Associate Professor from the Aaronson Department of Marketing & International Business, in exploring how to analyze unstructured data.

Unstructured data is everywhere. It can take the form of reviews, movie scripts, customer chats, or doctor’s notes. How do you analyze it?  There are a range of available statistical tools, for example, sentiment analysis, chat bots, recommendation engines. But to analyze unstructured data (text) it first has to be converted to structured data (numbers). In this mini-class, Prof. Hada will explain the underlying process of how text is converted to numbers.
