SUMMARY:Ethics in Brand Licensing
DESCRIPTION:About the Program: \nWhat do Beatles t-shirts and Disney coffee mugs have in common?  Both tell the story of brand licensing! \nBrand licensing is the process by which brand owners allow other businesses to use their trademarked creations. Brand owners and their licensees face ethical and legal challenges when deciding to license a specific brand onto certain merchandise. These challenges can be exacerbated by advanced technologies that open businesses to new markets and new marketing opportunities but can also create risks such as privacy violations and security breaches. This event will showcase a variety of participants in the licensing chain who will discuss the ethical challenges the licensing industry is currently facing. \n\nSpeakers:\nYafit Lev-Aretz\, Assistant Professor of Law at Zicklin School of Business\, Baruch College \nElizabeth Henries\, Managing Manager\, Henries PLLC \nElisheva M. The program also aims to equip future leaders with the insights and perspectives needed to make complex decisions about the use of technology in business and society. \nProfessor Lev-Aretz is a tech policy expert\, researching the fascinating relationship between the law\, technology\, and society.  She has written about information privacy\, the growing use of algorithmic decision-making\, intrusive means of news dissemination\, choice architecture in the age of big data\, and the ethical challenges posed by machine learning and artificially intelligent systems.
