PAID STUDENT PRIZES

As part of the launch of Baruch College’s PELTA – Policy, Ethics, Law,
Technology and AI program – we are advertising paid prizes ($250.00) for ~10
undergraduate and/or graduate Baruch College, CUNY students. This will be a research
assistantship contributing to the PELTA project, and it provides students with an
exciting opportunity to publish on the political, ethical, or legal implications of AI in
PELTA.

Fellows will be required to:

I. Write a 1-2 page thought-piece for a public audience critically
engaging with a political, ethical, and/or legal issue of AI, to be
published in PELTA.
II. Complete a creative expression (via a short video, visual, or
voice note) to accompany the written brief, to be uploaded to
the PELTA platform.

Eligibility:

I. Attendance at least two panels during the Ethical A.I.ms one day
symposium on 17th March 2026 at Baruch College. Applicants
who do not attend at least two panels will have their application
voided. (Scan QR code below to register).
II. AI use is permitted for proofreading; any further use will
disqualify the submission.
III. Enrolled Full-Time in a Baruch College program for Spring 2026.
IV. Minimum 3.5GPA.

Application:

I. Please submit a 1-2 page written piece.
II. Please submit an outline for how you would create interest in
your piece through a visual, voice, video, or other creative
medium.
III. Your name, degree program, and GPA.
IV. Ethical A.I.ms panels you attended.

‘PELTA’ refers to a small, light shield (typically crescent shape), wielded by ancient Greeks and Romans. The
ethos of the PELTA publication is to navigate the problems and opportunities of AI with the same agility,
maneuverability, strategy, and caution: defending against bias, advocating for transparency, and pushing
innovation limits.
