If you are participating on an internship through a third-party providers and you are paying a program fee of $1000 or more, you can receive a portion of your total fellowship prior to departure, and the remainder when you return. This eases some of the burden of paying program fees and paying for flights before you go.
As soon as you have been confirmed as a participant on a program and received an invoice for the program fee, you will apply for Part 1 of the C.V. Starr IEL Fellowship and submit it with supporting documents. The Intern Abroad Coordinator will verify with the program provider that you are confirmed and likely to be placed in an appropriate placement.
Past 1 of the application includes:
- contact information for the provider
- details on your anticipated placement
- invoice amount and breakdown of invoice inclusions and add-on fees
The check for the first installment will be requested as soon as possible, and may take up to 3-4 weeks to be issued. In the meantime, you are responsible for paying program fees to the provider or negotiating a deferred payment deadline.
You will be notified by email when the check is ready. However, the check for the first installment will be released to you only when you complete and submit Part 2 of the fellowship application.
