An Elevator Ride with the Dean
June 20, 2026On a recent elevator ride to our 13th-floor offices in the Newman Vertical Campus, Zicklin News found ourselves alongside our boss, Dean Bruce W. Weber. We asked him for a highlight of his now over-three-year tenure as Willem Kooyker Dean of the Zicklin School of Business. Here’s what he told us.
“One of my favorite duties as dean of the Zicklin School is planning for and introducing the Zicklin Talks Business webinars that we host monthly. The series is the brainchild of our namesake, Larry Zicklin (BBA, ’57), who proposes topics and hosts every episode, interviewing experts—most of them affiliated with the Zicklin School—with the same astute questions and perceptive remarks that propelled his Wall Street career and that he continues to brings to the seminars he teaches in the Zicklin Undergraduate Honors Program.
“The topics couldn’t be timelier: Since 2020, the Zicklin Talks Business webinars have covered affordable housing, rising healthcare costs, online betting markets, AI in education, and more. This month’s topic, fixed-rate mortgages, will look at the widespread problem in the U.S. of housing liquidity—that is, homeowners with low mortgage rates have little incentive to move as long as rates remain high. A ZIcklin faculty member in finance, Fabrice Tourre, will offer possible solutions.”
