Class of ’23: Where Are You?
May 25, 2023We spoke to Zicklin students who just graduated to find out where they’re headed next. Here’s what they told us.
“I’m joining McKinsey & Company as a Business Insights fellow for their Business Insights Leadership Development Program (BUILD). It’s a two-year rotational program with four six-month rotations across firm solutions, functions, and client-serving roles. This helps fellows get a broad understanding of McKinsey’s multifaceted structure. People think the company is just consulting but so much more is happening.”
Induranga Jayewardene
MS in Business Analytics, ’23

“I’m moving to Austin, Texas, to work as an account manager for TikTok. I’m a concert pianist, originally from Australia, and I moved to New York to get a master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Meanwhile, the pandemic hit, so I could no longer work as a performer, yet I couldn’t go home because Australia had closed its borders. So I pivoted and enrolled in the Full-Time MBA program at the Zicklin School. I knew I’d get a great business education without incurring a ton of debt. With help from the Graduate Career Management Center, I was accepted to a summer internship at TikTok last summer, which led to the full-time offer.”
Ling Ling Chen
MBA, ’23

“I’m starting as a full-time analyst for Blackstone in July. Real estate is a passion of mine and Blackstone is one of the best places to develop skills in financial modeling and other areas. I knew since high school I wanted to study business, and Zicklin’s excellent reputation in finance and accounting, plus its affordability and easily commutable location, made it a natural choice. I’ve also been accepted to the Harvard Summer Venture in Management Program (SVMP), which is like a weeklong MBA bootcamp. I hope to use that opportunity to decide if I want to pursue an MBA.”

“I am working as an associate for Deutsche Bank. I had worked for the company in India, my home country, before I moved from Mumbai to New York to join the Zicklin School’s MS in Finance program. While I was in school, I kept applying for jobs at all places, including Deutsche, and getting turned down, but finally someone on a panel I interviewed with noticed I was pursuing a master’s degree and approached me about a position that required higher learning. It just goes to show you should never give up!”
