Zicklin MBA Student Wins College-Wide Logo Design Contest

March 3, 2021

Alessia de Francesco, a student in the Zicklin School’s Evening MBA program, is the proud winner of a Baruch College-wide contest to design the new logo of Baruch Alumni in the Arts (AITA). AITA held the contest in February to celebrate the first anniversary of its founding.

“Her smart design perfectly reflects the AITA mission, as the letters represent people holding hands in collaboration, community, and peer-to-peer support,” said Lorie Caval, a member of the AITA Logo Contest Committee, which selected the winning entry.

De Francesco, who has a BFA in fashion design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, is originally from Uruguay and Italy, and came to the U.S. to attend high school. For the past few years, she has designed sweater knits, socks, hosiery, and footwear for both high-end/runway fashion houses and mass-market companies that produce garments for Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and other department stores.

“My goal once I get my MBA is to pivot to marketing, either in fashion or in new avenues like the gaming sector,” De Francesco said.
