Yiyang Sun (BBA ’23, MS ’24) and Kaiyin Tan (BBA, ’24)
For the seventh year in a row, students at the Zicklin School of Business have won scholarships from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), a Washington D.C. nonprofit established by Congress to oversee audits of public companies.
Yiyang Sun (BBA ’23, MS ’24) and Kaiyin Tan (BBA, ’24) were among 369 students from across the country who were named PCAOB Scholars for the 2023-2024 academic year. The program, which is funded by fines imposed by the PCAOB in its enforcement actions, benefits outstanding students who are likely to become accountants and auditors.
Yiyang, who completed a BBA in accounting last semester with a 4.0 GPA, is now pursuing an MS in taxation. “It is my great honor and I really appreciate this scholarship,” she said. “It fuels my master’s study financially and provides me with an amazing opportunity to get in touch with PCAOB professionals. It is also a spiritual encouragement for my future career development.”
Kaiyin transferred to the Zicklin School from LaGuardia Community College and is working towards a BBA in accounting. “This scholarship represents more than just financial assistance,” she noted. “It recognizes all my hard work.”
