Zicklin School of Business Announces New Willem Kooyker Dean
Bruce W. Weber, PhD, has been appointed the new Willem Kooyker Dean of the Zicklin School of Business. Dr. Weber is a former Zicklin School faculty member who is currently dean and professor of the Alfred Lerner College of Business at the University of Delaware.
In Memoriam: Professor Ivan Montiel
Ivan Montiel, Professor of Business Sustainability in the Narendra Paul Loomba Department of Management at the Zicklin School of Business, has passed away. A renowned scholar in his field, he was a passionate advocate for environmental sustainability and justice who had taught at the Zicklin School since 2016. “His research and scholarship will have an outsized impact on the world’s thinking about how to advance efforts to solve the climate crisis,” said his colleague, Professor Cynthia Thompson.
Zicklin School’s Information Systems Scholars Recognized for Innovative Research
The Association for Information Systems (AIS) has published its annual research rankings, and based on faculty publications in the top journals in their field, the Zicklin School’s Paul H. Chook Department of Information Systems and Statistics has zoomed up the charts to place number 39 worldwide. This represents a climb of 18 positions from last year.
This Zicklin Alum Pivoted from Finance to Music—and Won a Grammy
It’s not every day you meet someone who goes from Morgan Stanley to the music business, but that’s exactly what Drew de Leon (BBA, ’06) did 13 years ago. He’s now president of MPR Global, a boutique music distribution company known for “breaking” an artist who recently won a Grammy. Drew sat down for an interview with Zicklin News.
Baruch Climate Change Conference a Big Success
The Baruch College Inaugural Conference on Climate Research, Teaching, and Collaboration, sponsored by the Zicklin School of Business, featured research from across the College. At the deans’ panel, Interim Dean Paquita Davis-Friday (second from left) participated with the Marxe and Weissman School deans and the interim associate provost. Dr. Davis-Friday announced the goal to create a climate certificate encompassing coursework from all three schools.
Zicklin School’s Faculty Research Ranks High
The University of Texas at Dallas has released its annual Top 100 Business School Research Rankings and the Zicklin School of Business climbed seven spots to reach number 68 in North America. Based on calculating the number of faculty research publications in top business journals, the UT Dallas rankings are the most universally recognized rankings of business schools in the country.
