Zicklin School undergraduate Mohina Abdullaeva (BBA, ’25) has won a Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) fellowship from the U.S. Department of State. It will pay for her junior and senior years at Zicklin and also include domestic and international internships. To tell us more, Mohina sat down for an interview with Zicklin News.
Nobel Winner Harry Markowitz, Former Zicklin Professor, Dies
Harry M. Markowitz, PhD, who was a distinguished professor in the School of Business at Baruch College when he won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Science in 1990, passed away on June 22 at age 95. Dr. Markowitz “revolutionized the way that individuals and institutions invest,” Investopedia wrote.
Zicklin School Hosts Joint Research Symposium with Chinese University
Faculty members and doctoral candidates from Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), one of China’s top universities for business, were hosted by the Zicklin School in June for this longstanding annual event. Panel discussions covered current topics like “memeonomics” (how viral social media content shapes financial markets) and the impact of climate change on real estate prices.
Zicklin Alum Inspired by Memories of MLK Creates Accounting Scholarship
Last semester, while alumnus Ed Mendlowitz (BBA, ’63) was teaching a graduate seminar at the Zicklin School of Business, he remembered that Martin Luther King, Jr. had been the commencement speaker at Mendlowitz’s graduation ceremony exactly six decades ago. “King was a rising star, but he hadn’t become the national leader of the civil rights movement yet,” Mendlowitz recalls.
