New Study Names Seven Zicklin Professors as Top Researchers Worldwide

Professors from the Departments of Accounting, Economics and Finance, Information Systems, Management, and Marketing were named to the list, which encompasses more than eight million researchers across 174 fields and was published in the journal PLOS Biology by a Stanford University professor.

February 9 Webinar: Virgin Atlantic Before, During, and After the Pandemic

Since its first canceled flight in February 2020, Virgin Atlantic has survived a shutdown of the airline industry, major layoffs, and a Chapter 15 bankruptcy filing in the U.S. — all while receiving no financial support from the British government. In our next Zicklin Talks Business webinar, Mr. Shai Weiss (BBA, ’95) Virgin Atlantic CEO and Zicklin School alumnus, will discuss the firm’s path through the pandemic so far and what he sees as its future with our benefactor Larry Zicklin (BBA, ’57). Professor Lauren Block (Allen G. Aaronson Department of Marketing and International Business) participated in a conference held by the North American Society for Marketing Education.

Professor Marc Edelman (Department of Law) spoke to ESPN Radio in Utah about the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to hear NCAA athlete pay limit legislation; argued in Forbes that college athletes should be allowed to unionize; called Ohio State’s medical ethics “questionable” and wrote about online sports betting in the same publication, and was interviewed by National Public Radio’s Marketplace.

Associate Professor Mahima Hada (Allen G. Aaronson Department of Marketing and International Business) co-published an article in the Journal of Retailing on how franchisors change contracts at the onset of crises. Its timeliness garnered some press coverage.

Alumna Mayoori Kango (MBA, ’07) was included in an India Times article on former movie stars now working at multinational corporations.

Alumnus Raj Manchanda (MBA, ’98) has been named Chief Technology Officer of the Society of the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE).

Professor Lilac Nachum (Allen G. Aaronson Department of Marketing and International Business) was quoted in an article about the future of commuting on the World Economic Forum website.

Professor Scott Newbert, Lawrence N. Field Chair in Entrepreneurship, was quoted in Newsday about the recent uptick in business launches.

Alumnus Billy Robbins (BBA, ’96) was promoted to vice president and general manager of WBFF-TV in Baltimore, MD.

Alumna Kathleen Walsh (MBA, ’05), principal of Kathleen Walsh Interiors, was interviewed by HAMPTONS magazine.

Professor Valerie Watnick (Chair, Department of Law) was invited by Baruch’s Center for Teaching & Learning to present a new, collaborative exam she developed at the Center’s Fall Faculty Teaching Innovations Showcase.

Assistant Professor Dexin Zhou (Economics and Finance) co–published an article, “Predicting Litigation Risk via Machine Learning,” on a Harvard Law School blog.
