Zicklin School Hits a Grand Slam!
For the fourth consecutive year, both the valedictorian and salutatorian of the Baruch College graduating class are students from the Zicklin School of Business.
The Zicklin School Is a Family Affair For These Siblings
It’s often said that word of mouth is the best form of marketing. If so, it’s no wonder Young Sin (Joanna) Kim (MS, ’23, left) decided to enroll in the Zicklin School’s Master of Science program in finance — her sister, Young Seo (Deanna) (BBA ’18, MS ’20, right) recommended it.
How the Zicklin School Is Making Computing Classes More Inclusive
The Zicklin School of Business has made diversity, equity, and inclusion a top priority. Faculty at the Paul H. Chook Department of Information Systems and Statistics noticed that while they have been on a positive trajectory in enrolling women in Computer Information Systems programs and courses, gender disparities continue to persist. They decided to make it a strategic priority to improve gender diversity, and the first step was the introduction of a brand-new course, CIS 2300.
Zicklin Alum Inducted into Advertising Hall of Fame
Michael I. Roth (BBA, ’67) was honored by the American Advertising Federation for his stewardship of advertising giant Interpublic, where he is now retired chairman and CEO. In an interview discussing the Zicklin School’s role in his success, he urged students not to worry too much about their career paths: “I never once thought of my next job. I just did the best I could do at what I was doing.”
June Webinar: Whistleblowing: Good for Society, Bad for the Whistleblower?
Whistleblower laws encourage employees to report illegal activities within an organization by providing retaliation protections and, in some cases, bounty rewards. Employees who are aware of corporate wrongdoing are encouraged to report it and this should benefit the organization, its stakeholders, and society at large. Yet, there may another side to this story. Do the laws encourage employees to “spy” on the firm? How have people fared after blowing the whistle? For that matter, what is the evidence on whether the laws have actually been effective in reducing corporate wrongdoing? Larry Zicklin (BBA, ‘57) discusses these questions with Prof. Jennifer Pacella (pictured) of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, and Prof. Valerie Watnick, chair of the Zicklin School’s Department of Law. With an introduction by Dean Fenwick Huss and a Q&A session moderated by Associate Dean Gwen Webb.
